20 Years of Partnership

We do it because it’s the right thing to do, but every once in a while, when your team gets recognized, it puts a smile on your face. Shout out to Plant Manager Billy Doster and our Tuscaloosa (AL) Quarry team who recently celebrated 20 years of partnership with Vance Elementary School. The Chamber of West Alabama recognized this major milestone during their annual “Adopt-A-School” kickoff conference.

Celebrating Ms. Frances

Please join us in wishing a happy and peaceful retirement to Ms. Frances, who has been a pillar of our Hermitage Sign Shop in Tennessee since 1983. As one coworker said, “Ms. Frances has the biggest heart and has always given me a big smile and a hug every time I see her.” What’s next? Keeping her morning walk routine and travelling to see the world. Thank you Ms. Frances, you exemplify The Vulcan Way!

Mideast Blood Drive

We’re all in this together. Earlier this week, we hosted a Red Cross blood drive at our Mideast Division training center. Partnering with others helps build stronger communities.

Women in Engineering

In honor of International Women in Engineering Day, we’re excited to introduce you to Alex, Plant Supervisor at Augusta Quarry in Virginia. Growing up in a community that encouraged curious children and teens to advance their knowledge in STEM learning, Alex participated in robotic teams in high school, which solidified her interest in engineering. Alex took on a mining internship at Vulcan while studying mining and mineral engineering at Virginia Tech. She then became an Operations Management Trainee and has worked her way up to plant supervisor, growing as a leader and team member every step of the way. A big thank you to Alex and all women in engineering for their hard work and the inspiration they provide to young women everywhere.
